Heather Neilson
Abstract Artist

Heather Neilson is an abstract artist interested in expressing the human connection to the natural world. Her abstract paintings suggest a universal longing for home. She is inspired by the landscape and botanical ephemera of Litchfield County in the Northwest corner of Connecticut. Heather desires the viewer to sense their own connection to the earth and sky and to evoke memories, ancestral history and sense of place.

Heather also teaches art classes and workshops both online and in person. Her classes are designed to help participants find their inner voice through gentle guidance and encouragement. Heather provides a warm and inviting creative space which is rich with the opportunity for rewarding experiences and connection with other like-minded creatives.

Biography 
Heather has pursued the study of art history and direct art making for more than 25 years. She has attended classes at the New York Art Students League and studied with several master artists. Heather was a digital marketer for several large corporations before making the shift to become a full time artist. She received her B.A. in Communications from Rutgers University. She is a certified GOLDEN Arts Educator and Silver Brush Educator. Heather teaches art classes online, in her studio and throughout the region.
