About Heather

Heather Neilson
Abstract Artist and Art Educator

I am an abstract artist and art educator. I am inspired by the human connection to the natural world. I paint expressively and attempt to communicate inner and outer experiences with immediacy and presence. My desire is for the viewer to sense their own connection to the earth and sky and to evoke memories, ancestral history and place.

My art classes and workshops are designed to help participants find their inner voice through gentle guidance and encouragement. I provide a warm and inviting creative space which is rich with the opportunity for rewarding experiences and connection with other like-minded creatives.

Heather has pursued the study of art history and direct art making for more than 25 years. She has attended classes at the New York Art Students League and studied with several master artists. Heather was a digital marketer for several large corporations before making the shift to become a full time artist. She received her B.A. in Communications from Rutgers University. She is a certified GOLDEN Arts Educator and Silver Brush Educator. Heather teaches art classes in her studio and throughout the region.
