Explore your creativity in a warm and inviting space. See how an art journaling practice can be used for personal growth and expression. You will learn techniques that will enrich you both artistically and spiritually through writing, poetry, paint, collage, images and much more. No experience necessary and all materials are included.
Week 1: January 26 – “Opening Doors” – in this opening class we will explore poetry, paint, collage and image transfer. We will beckon beginning by getting to know our materials, our journal and each other.
Week 2: February 2 – “Color and the chakras” – through visualization tools, we will take a journey with color to further explore our innate personal expression. We will also make paste papers – a fun exercise that will result in beautiful papers to be used to cover our books and other collage projects.
Week 3: February 9 – “Your personal mantra” – through writing and art exercises, you will find and explore words or phrases that inspire you; we will also cover our books with the beautiful paste papers made the previous week. Also, we will adorn our books with threads and beads.
Week 4; February 16 – “Light and dark” – using paint, collage and other mixed media, we will be build two journal pages, exploring the ying and yang of light and dark.
Week 5: February 23 – “What your choices say about you” – with guest author Kim DeYoung – through mapping your life choices with writing and visual elements, become an investigator of your life, excavating your past for answers and clues, allowing you to view yourself with kinder, more soul-seeking eyes.
Week 6: March 1 – “Circles” – a rich exploration of the circular nature of life. We will play with the circle motif plus make pockets, envelopes and more ways to tuck notes and found material in your journals.
