Dates: January 22, 29, Feb 5, 12
Times: Four Saturdays 10am-12:30pm ET
Expand your expressive abstract painting experience! This abstract painting class is for anyone who has either some abstract painting experience or has taken an abstract painting class with me in the past, either online or in-person. This online painting class (via zoom) will further explore concepts such as Value, Color, Composition and Shape through new exercises that will deepen your abstract painting skills and will provide you with guidance and support along the way. We will bring in new tools and techniques to further expand your repertoire for building paintings, evaluating and building confidence in your work.
You will be asked to provide 1-3 goals for your art practice. Examples could be 1) loosen up 2) develop color harmony 3) know when a piece is finished. Heather will provide advice and guidance on your goals. Each week (other than Class 1) we will discuss your work at the beginning of class to give ideas for strengthening or finishing the work and any related input related to your overall goals.
Ideally, you could work on a painting during the week based on the exercises we work on in class and then share it with the group for feedback. However, that is not a requirement if you only have time for the exercises. I will be teaching with primarily acrylic paints but you are free to use whatever medium works best for you such as watercolor or oil.
All classes are recorded and available for six months.
Supply list provided upon registration.

“I have been studying art and taking classes for 10 years. I have to say you are one of the shining lights among the host of art instructors I have had. Each lesson was well planned and the demonstrations were well-explained and easy to follow. You have a wonderful, pleasant demeanor that let me explore and take chances in my art. You were encouraging but not stifling or overpowering. I feel my work has grown and I aim to continue along the lines you taught. I will be planning to join one of your classes in the near future.”– Bill (March 2021)
